About

How it works

Local Water & Mold is a referral service. We publish free county guides for homeowners in 25 states and connect callers with restoration companies that serve their area. We don't do restoration work ourselves.

What happens when you call

  1. Your call is routed by location. The number on each county page connects to a participating restoration company that serves that county. You may hear a short automated prompt that confirms your location and the type of damage.
  2. A local company answers. You talk directly with the company that would do the work. They'll ask what happened and arrange an inspection.
  3. You decide. You're never obligated to hire the company you're connected with. Get a written estimate, ask questions, and compare if you want to.

How we're paid

Restoration companies, or the call networks that work with them, pay us when we refer a caller. There's no charge to you for the referral. The company you hire bills you or your insurer for its work, the same as if you'd found it yourself.

What payment doesn't change

  • Our guides are written to help you limit damage and protect your claim, including steps that mean you may need less professional work.
  • We don't rank, review or endorse individual companies, and we don't publish testimonials.
  • We're not affiliated with any insurance company or government agency.

What we don't do

  • We don't inspect, quote, or perform any work.
  • We don't guarantee response times, prices or workmanship. Those are between you and the company.
  • We don't sell your information. See our privacy policy.

Before you hire anyone

  • Ask whether technicians are IICRC certified.
  • Ask for proof of insurance and any local registration or license your city or county requires.
  • Get the scope and price in writing, and read anything you sign.
